Frequently asked questions

1Do I need an initial consultation or can I receive an infusion straight away?
If you are at Loha for Life for the first time, you always need an initial consultation with a Loha for Life doctor. Together we will go through your medical history and you will receive detailed information about the possible causes of your iron deficiency. If iron therapy is carried out, they will also be informed about the possible/potential side effects of oral and intravenous iron therapy and an individual therapy plan will be discussed. Our goal is that you as a patient are informed and educated about your symptoms, the diagnostic steps and the therapy. Following a medical consultation, iron therapy can be started immediately.
2How much time do I have to plan for my initial consultation?
The initial consultation lasts on average around 30 minutes.
3How long does an iron infusion take?
Depending on the preparation and dose, each iron infusion can take between 15 and 60 minutes.
4How much does iron therapy cost?
see also Costs.
5Is iron therapy covered by public health insurance?
In most cases, the costs for the iron ampoules are covered by public health insurance companies. We take care of getting your prescription approved.
6How many iron infusions will I need?
How many infusions the patient needs can only be estimated after the blood results have been evaluated.
7Can I make an appointment even without current laboratory blood results?
A current laboratory result is not absolutely necessary. We can take a blood sample at Loha for Life as part of the medical consultation. This laboratory test will be directly billed to the respective health insurance company.
8Do I need a referral from a general practitioner?
No referral is necessary for an appointment at Loha for Life.
9How does private doctor billing work?
Private doctors are freelance doctors without a health insurance contract. Only part of the costs are reimbursed by health insurance companies, but many private health insurance companies reimburse up to 100%. With our invoice you will receive a form that you can send to your public health insurance company.
10Can I also pay with a credit or debit card?
Yes, you can of course pay in cash, with a credit card or with a debit card.
